The new academic year 2022-2023 begins with VNU teachers and students in a particular context, that is, VNU Campus in Hoa Lac, following the model of a smart university, a green university with synchronous facilities, modern equipment, has been officially put into operation, gradually perfected and synchronized in the direction of 5 in 1, contributing to raising the level of VNU in the new period. This is the first academic year that VNU in Hoa Lac welcomes 1,500 students in the class of QH. 2022 from VNU's National University of Education, University of Education, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam Japan University, and International School, to come to study.
In his opening speech, VNU President Le Quan shared that the VNU project in Hoa Lac was approved by the Government in 2003 with a scale of 1,113 hectares. In 2018, the project was transferred from the Ministry of Construction to VNU. After nearly 20 years, the total disbursed capital for the new project has reached about 15%, mainly focusing on site clearance and infrastructure.

VNU currently has a scale of about 60,000 students, students and teachers. However, the entire inner city of VNU has only 16 hectares, mainly belonging to three member universities: University of Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and University of Foreign Languages. Most units in VNU have to rent facilities at the cost of hundreds of billions per year. The space for training and scientific research is very cramped, and there is almost no space for research, transfer and cooperation in service provision. Therefore, using the VNU project in Hoa Lac will help create a new area to elevate VNU.
On October 20, 2021, the first meeting discussing the plan to send students to Hoa Lac to study took place. In the spirit of not saying no, not saying it's hard, and not talking back, VNU has implemented three peak phases, 100 days each. On May 19, 2022, VNU Agency officially moved its headquarters to Hoa Lac, according to notice No. 1666/TB-ĐHQGHN issued on May 18, 2022. This milestone marks the transformation of the whole VNU towards a new development space in terms of facilities, academic life, and university administration.
“The success stems from VNU changing its thinking and ways for a new space like Hoa Lac: Moving from a particular focus for the University of Sciences to Hoa Lac to putting it into common use to meet essential and urgent needs for the whole VNU to ensure that it is built and put into effective use there; shifting from basic sciences to opening new engineering, technology and social fields with high demand; Move from forcing units to move to Hoa Lac administratively to giving priority to developing units in need. Above all, leaders must move to Hoa Lac for the collective to follow the example; when the VNU agency moves in, the unit will be ready, and when teachers move in, students and families will feel secure. If we are not present day and night in Hoa Lac, it will be difficult for Hoa Lac to transform," emphasized Director Le Quan.
VNU President Le Quan expects that, with the determination of VNU teachers and students, by 2025, there will be 25,000 students studying in Hoa Lac. The President of VNU expressed his wish that, with the new development space, VNU would quickly rise, worthy of the trust of the Party, State, and People and worthy of becoming a leading university. In the coming time, VNU-HN in Hoa Lac will be a place where students and students want to come, a home for teachers and staff, and an address for cooperation and development of businesses.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that VNU has been and continues to have a vital transformation, affirming its reputation, establishing its position as the leading university in Vietnam, and enrolling in the group of universities with the highest achievements in the region and the world. The initial successes of VNU, together with many universities, are creating a new spirit of Vietnamese higher education on the path of fundamental and comprehensive renovation according to the guidelines of the Party and State.
Tran Thanh Man suggested that VNU scientists and leaders must focus all their resources on building the VNU campus, gradually improving the quality of life, learning and training conditions for students here. Along with that, it is necessary to continue to vigorously innovate teaching and learning methods to promote the positivity, initiative, and creativity of students, strengthen practical skills, and apply knowledge to solve practical problems; each teacher is always a shining example of morality, self-study, self-research, and creativity for students to follow.
Tran Thanh Man also suggested that the Hanoi government pay attention to speeding up site clearance as well as ensuring security, order, and safety for students.

Two thousand twenty-two students in the Campus of VNU in Hoa Lac, enjoying the atmosphere. In 2021, VNU issued the Regulation on scholarship support for Ph.D. students and post-doctoral trainees; this is a pioneering breakthrough in postgraduate training, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of graduate students in training and scientific research activities of VNU. Additionally, policies on working regimes for lecturers, researchers, and young scientists with many advantages and international integration were also promulgated and implemented. The scholarship program for Basic Science students, piloted, will create an open mechanism to encourage students with excellent achievements to study their favorite subjects and, at the same time, develop human resources for higher education level, as well as future human scientific resources.
2022 has been a memorable year for VNU with many outstanding events, the University of Law was established by the Prime Minister based on upgrading the Faculty of Law; Standing Government agreed to transfer Construction Hospital with two campuses in Thanh Xuan and Linh Dam to VNU; Many VNU scientists are on the list of the most influential scientists in the world.

It can be said that with the responsibility of leading in the education system, VNU always strives to affirm its position through the results and quality of its activities to be recognized in international ranking systems and its role and prestige of Vietnamese education in the world education map. For the past 5 consecutive years, VNU has been ranked in the world's top 1000 best higher education institutions by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Time Higher Education (THE) ranking organizations.
Most recently, VNU was awarded the Recognition of Improvement Award by QS. This is the first time a Vietnamese university has received this award.
