Established under the Decision No. 3737/QD-UBND dated August 16, 2011, of the Hanoi People’s Committee, VNU - Foundation is a unit operating under the model of the Education Foundation of the university, which is a new and potential financial solution to help VNU mobilize and receive the contribution of society and community for the cause of education.

VNU - Foundation operates on the principle of self-funding, based on mobilizing donations from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals to support, sponsor and encourage the development of educational activities, training, healthcare, sports, science, technology, innovation, commercialization of products and construction of Vietnam National University, Hanoi;  VNU-Foundation is self-financed for its operations and is responsible for its financial activities before the law and VNU;  VNU - Foundation has legal status, own seal and account at commercial banks in accordance with the law.

VNU - Foundation carries out investment and business activities to create capital and mobilize contributions from society to deploy activities in many fields, including training, technology incubation, supporting start-ups, sponsoring scholarships for students, especially students with difficult circumstances; supporting VNU staff in improving professional qualifications; investing in equipment and facilities for training.

VNU - Foundation has the Chairman of the Management Council and Director of the Foundation, Assoc.Prof.Dr.  Tran Thi Thanh Tu.  The members of the Foundation Management Council and the Advisory Board of the Foundation Management Council are senior experts, experienced leaders of corporations, companies, and passionate and influential educators at VNU.  These are favorable conditions to help the Foundation’s Executive Board realize the Foundation’s purposes and principles.
