First intake of students in Hoa Lac - a mark in the development history of VNU

 

On February 13, 2023, VNU President Le Quan held a dialogue with students studying in Hoa Lac. This is the third time the Director has talked to students to better understand their feelings, aspirations, and concerns in order to answer their questions and take their recommendations, thereby fostering students' love for VNU and contributing to improving the quality of student life. Also, on this occasion, the President of VNU and the lecturers gave gifts to encourage and motivate the first-year students at Hoa Lac; the gifts were sponsored by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) supporting the Fund for Nurturing Young Talents of VNU.

Attending the dialogue were Vice Presidents, heads of the offices and departments, leaders of member and affiliated units of VNU and representatives of 1,500 students studying at Hoa Lac.

Reporting on the implementation of activities for students studying in Hoa Lac, Mr. Hua Thanh Hoa - Secretary of the Youth Union, Chairman of the Student Affair, said that during the semester, the VNU Youth Union - Student Affair actively coordinated working with relevant units to concretize the direction of the President.

In the academic year 2022-2023, VNU will bring 1,500 students from the University of Education, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam Japan University and International School to study in Hoa Lac. The diversity of majors of students from different universities located on the same campus has created a lot of added value for their living, training and learning environment. In the past, relevant units have coordinated to deploy many changes to improve facilities, such as lighting systems ensuring security and safety for students, completing the landscape, traffic infrastructure, equipment system at the lecture halls... Along with that, the Youth Union - Student Union organized many communication programs, sports and art competitions to spread consensus and respond to major policies of the Party, State and VNU to develop VNU campus in Hoa Lac, bringing many practical values, connecting students with the new learning environment.

Discussing with students at the dialogue, VNU President Le Quan emphasized the historical importance of the first-year students and said that in the coming time, VNU would continue to complete and synchronously implement facilities for study and research to prepare for the goal of bringing 6,000 students to study in Hoa Lac. At the same time, VNU has developed a comprehensive development project for first-year students studying in Hoa Lac, focusing on moral education, traditional cultural values, aesthetic values, physical and health foundations associated with the international integration capacity of students. Besides the investment efforts of VNU, Hanoi also has plans to develop Hoa Lac city as a satellite campus of the capital, in which VNU and Hoa Lac hi-tech park are the core of a knowledge city – a city of science and technology, education and training.

Student Ngoc Anh proposed VNU to arrange more vehicles to support students from the dormitory to the lecture hall.
Answering student Ngoc Anh - University of Medicine and Pharmacy on the proposal that VNU should arrange more vehicles to support students from the dormitory to the lecture hall, Director Le Quan said that VNU had approved the implementation of the covered walkway from the dormitory to the lecture hall, planting more trees and benches suitable for the overall landscape to ensure the health of the students in the weather conditions of Hoa Lac. At the same time, the President of VNU-HN directed the University Urban Management Center to arrange electric scooters and smart bicycle services to serve the mobility needs of students.


Student Bui Van Quyet wishes cultural and artistic activities to be held more often Student Bui Van Quyet - University of Education wishes that cultural and artistic activities will be organized more often to help students at Hoa Lac have a leisure space after stressful school hours. Responding to this issue, VNU President Le Quan shared that VNU will start constructing an art innovation center along Da Lat lake. This will be a place of cultural and artistic activities not only for VNU students but also qualified to become a venue for national and regional events. The President also added that the facilities at the HT lecture hall complex would be completed in the first quarter, the sports training areas, entertainment services will continue to be formed in 2023. At the same time, Director Le Quan expressed the desire for students to be more active in organizing literary - physical - aesthetic activities to help them become more mature.
VNU Vice President Nguyen Hieu answered students' questions regarding the plan to put D1 dormitory into use
Responding to students' questions related to the plan to put the D1 dormitory on the campus of the National Defense and Security Education Center into use, VNU Vice President Nguyen Hieu said, this work is being completed. About the interior, it is expected to be completed in March. By design, this area has a common study space and space for sports activities. It is expected that by the end of 2023, VNU's dormitories in Hoa Lac will meet the accommodation needs of 2,000 students.


 

Student Nguyen Ngoc Quan - Vietnam Japan University wondered about the route to bring students to study at Hoa Lac. VNU President Le Quan answered VNU is preparing the necessary conditions to bring 100% of students of Vietnam Japan University, first-year students of University of Law, School of Management and Business, Faculty of Sciences interdisciplinary to study at Hoa Lac in the academic year 2023-2024. VNU is also working with the Hanoi Department of Transport to arrange a bus service from the inner city to Hoa Lac by highway, helping students to save time traveling.

Director of the Center for Library and Digital Knowledge Nguyen Hoang Son expressed his pleasure that the Center has served 12,000 library users in the past 3 months. Director Nguyen Hoang Son also committed that the Center is ready to arrange library staff on duty to serve the learning, research and entertainment needs of students. VNU President Le Quan also suggested that leaders of the management unit arrange after-hours service in some common spaces to meet the learning needs of students.
 

Also, on this occasion, VNU's Board of Directors gave gifts to students studying at Hoa Lac to encourage and motivate them. The gift was sponsored by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) to the Talent Incubation Fund of VNU.

Since VNU officially implemented the plan to bring regular students to study at Hoa Lac, the President of VNU has met and had a dialogue with students many times. In August 2022, the President of VNU visited students studying at the Center for Defense and Security Education. Based on the aspirations, suggestions and recommendations of students and implementing the direction of the Director, the Center for National Defense and Security Education has improved the landscape, environment, ensured food safety and hygiene, improved service quality and coordinated to organize a number of sports and cultural activities to improve the quality of daily life and study security - defense.

In November 2022, the President of VNU visited teachers and students at the HT lecture hall on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day, November 20. After exchanging ideas and sharing about learning conditions at the lecture hall, the Director directed the University Urban Management Center and the Management Board of the VNU Construction Investment Project in Hoa Lac to develop and implement a complete plan to complete the facilities of the lecture halls, dormitories, connected transport infrastructure and internal services, ensure safety, security, meet and create favorable conditions for students to study and practice. There have been many positive changes so far.

Most recently, at the beginning of February 2023, the President of VNU gave gifts to students studying national defense and security education, a green vegetable garden according to a safe process. The director also guides and participates in the experience of gardening and growing vegetables with the students. This is the first activity in a series of experiential activities of the comprehensive education model that VNU is implementing.
