The Science Camp– Green Hoa Lac – VSL JUNIOR SCIENTIST CAMP 1 was first organized by the VNU Scientist Links (VSL) on the campus of VNU in Hoa Lac. With the journey of 6 days and 5 nights, VSL JUNIOR SCIENTIST CAMP 1 has officially ended with the participation of 36 campers who are children of VNU staff.
With the topic of GO GREEN & RENEWAL ENERGY, the young scientists together went through very interesting modules such as: (1) Science Show; (2) Renewable energy - Solar power; (3) Waste and Recycling STEM project; (4) STEM on water resources; (5) The thermal energy of the sun; (6) Explore the Milky Way and the stars; (7) 21st century skills; (8) Basic first aid skills; (9) English debating and presentation skills; (10) Personal financial management; (11) Psychology modules; (12) Volunteer activities.
Through these experiences, campers are able to explore and discover nature and the surrounding environment; Learn basic skills, self-care tips; Work in a team to do science projects; Raise awareness of environmental protection, waste recycling, and the love for nature through science experiment activities; Know how to share love for people around. In addition, parents can also participate in a module called "Listen to me" about sex education for children.
Joy and laughter are always on their face and that is also their happiness when participating in this summer camp. They all hope that the VNU Scientist Links will organize more camps with many different topics so that they can experience and partly understand the work of a scientist and thereby help them to have more faith in life and orient their jobs in the future.
The summer camp ended, but a new volunteer project was started by the students participating in the summer camp from unique ideas made from recycled products (flood houses, vending machines, friendly trash, ...). Their products were auctioned at the Gala Dinner and collected the amount of VND 34,500,000, along with the interest and support of the VNU Alumni Club with the amount of VND 15,500,000. All of the money wil be donated by the organizers and students to students with difficult circumstances in Thach Hoa, Thach That, Hanoi.
According to the Organizing Committee, in the coming time, VNU Scientist Links will organize more events with different topics for children to experience more interesting things in the summer.
